Studio

JMJ Tile is currently located on the sleepy north end of longboat Key, FL. Pirates, Fisherman, boatbuilders and a few retirees live out here with the turquoiuse water and near perfect weather except for the bugs.

The working space is an open air studio looking out over the dock and canal. It is easy to get distracted and take a quick run to the beach to check for surf or walk out on the dock to see if there are any big snook lurking underneath the boats. It is much different atmosphere from tyhe Santa Barbara studio.

Within a year I should be returning to California to pick up on where all this began. What I try to focus on is creating my own California dream by making tile similar to the way the early pioneers did to see and feel the colors and landscapes they were inspired by.

Mossaics are a challenge. Wwhen making the broken tile works I think of it as painting and each piece is a brush stroke. Similar to Impressionism with all the fractured marks coming together to make a whole image.

My studio offers a way for people to accent and enrich there living space with the tile and mosaics. Making ideas reality.
